小知识
Oddments are a random collection of things, especially a mishmash of leftover items. A beautiful quilt can be made from an assortment of oddments, so don't throw away your scraps while sewing!
A miscellaneous assortment of stuff can be called oddments. In a pinch, a chef might toss oddments from the refrigerator into a big pot and make a stew; and an experienced seamstress can transform a pile of fabric oddments into a colorful quilt. The word oddments dates from the late eighteenth century, modeled on “fragments,” adding the Latin suffix ments- to the Germanic odd.
